About The Artwork
I did the first pencil sketch on site in Bruges in 2010. Althought the scene is beautiful and appears on all post cards of Bruges, a realistic watercolor seemed artificial and I started to brake up the surfaces. The inspiration of this approach came from Lyonel Charles Feininger, a German-American painter, and a leading exponent of Expressionism. I continued this line of work and did simmilar paintings of Florence during the same trip (see in portfolio).
