About The Artwork
I love winter and this work is inspired by winter. I find the darkness, the fog, the bare trees poetic. But one can also find a lot of colour in a winter landscape. I made a basic outline when I started to paint this work and carefully added layers of colour. I did it all quite intuitively but I knew I wanted to have willow trees in this work. At the end I added some sand for roughness and I added a touch of gold for a glow. The upper part I did with layers of coffee and grey acrylic paint to depict a winter sky. In inches the work is 31.5 x 31.5 x 0.7 The painting is ready to hang with picture wire between two folding eyelet/pointed hangers. Please have a look at the detail photographs. The sides of the canvas are painted black and - as always - I used only artist quality material.

ARTIST STATEMENT: Life is a largely subjective experience; but that subjective experience is my bridge to the objective world. And it’s this synthesis of the two that I am trying to capture. INSPIRATION AND PROCESS: I love experimenting and want to give my works an individual expression. I have two lines of work: I love painting almost (but not quite) realistic, somewhat utopian, nature images and on the other hand I really enjoy doing non-objective/abstract art. I am inspired by the beauty and power of natural phenomena, the mystery of nature, its colors and forms. Every painting is a one-of-a-kind work in which I try to combine feeling and thought. I work most of the time with acrylics but I also mix acrylics with other media such as oil pastel, soft pastel, spray paint, graphite and charcoal or ink. All materials I use, if canvas, paper or paints are of artist quality.
