The work is part of my "Conversation with Trees" series. In this work, I focus on the splendor of fall colors as the tree prepares for the starkness of winter. The painting is done in acrylic with a visible surface texture. In this work, I am inspired by the hidden wonder of trees and their magical inner life. Rather than a realistic representation of a tree, I attempt to portray the magic of the tree as seen over the various seasons.

Daniel is a South African architect who started to pursuing his first love – ART soon after obtaining his masters degree in Architecture by studying fine art at the University of Unisa. He has had several solo shows at prominent Art Galleries in South Africa. and the USA. His work is widely collected by many prominent Private and Corporate collectors. In his latest work he returns to the subject of trees, which has been a fascination me since childhood and occurred in his work since the early eighties. Instead of a representational depiction, He employs something similar to an Iconographic template to portray their presence, complexity, and majesty. He uses trees as a metaphor for the human condition -- for instance, the visual measure of the passage of time, the seasonal cycle of death and rebirth, and the diversity of personalities. His work is interested in the physicality of trees, and in the way that time, environment and climate impacts the body to produce an enormous visual variety. In “A Conversation with Trees,” the vibrant colors that have been a hallmark of his work are slightly de-saturated and toned down. He explores the visual nature of hissubject matter by expressing it in a variety of textures. The chess board pattern which has always been a dominant symbol in his art now inhabits a new role as part of the broader language of pattern and texture. "I see my current work as a culmination of early artistic influences and the maturation of my distinctive personal style," he says. Through an increased intricacy and variety of elements, I continue to push the boundaries of long-standing themes in my work. www.danielblignautart.com
