Best known for his vibrant and vivacious collections that embody his unwavering obsession and dedication to all things theatrical. Introspectively is where McIntosh begins his creative process, fuelled entirely by his passion to create what reality often fails to acknowledge. His work Invites the viewer to look past the distractions resting upon the surface, in order to seek a deeper understanding and awareness of the underlying essence of each piece. Although in doing so, perhaps this act only heightens the dilemma of the resounding question that remains for McIntosh, "Can any of us, truely see one another". To really see something for what it is, should we not first look inwardly to reflect on and become aware of, how it is we've been conditioned to interpret the stimulus in which we've been presented. Prompting the realisation for many, that each and every one of us see and experience the world through our own set of bias and potentially blinding lenses. With such a strong focus on issues raised by the human condition, foremost the way in which we relate to our immediate surroundings, it has become apparent to McIntosh how important it is to truely understand the powerful connections we pursue with others. Having always idolised the strong female figures in his life, it is hardly surprising that throughout his arts practice Women have consistently occupied the majority of his consciousness. Often for McIntosh these portrayals take on a much deeper context than what is initially intended. Engulfed by hauntingly sincere personifications, that are subconsciously conjured from his own intimate moments. An ongoing reminder to us all, the impact of ingrained memories, both of ecstasy and affliction. Drawing attention to the subtle yet eventual paradigms the mind can often become subject to, McIntosh recognises the ability such paradigms have to govern the circumstances in which his own work is undoubtably influenced. Art is more than just an exciting passion for this young artist, it plays an instrumental role in how he identifies himself as a human being. McIntosh describes art, along with the act of creation, as his "Constant". This becomes evident when reflecting on his confident and eccentric style of portraiture, as it tempts our fascination for the weird and the wonderful. The dedication to his arts paractice is the product of ongoing mutual respect, appreciation and discipline.
