Episode 4 in the Décloisonnement series Décloisonnement, like all the titles I give, corresponds to the state of mind or psycho-artistic approach in which I find myself. The works may seem similar from one series to the next. But this is not the case. With this one, as with the previous one, it's a return to frank and assertive color. Unlike the pigment-laden watercolors, there is a superimposition of colors. Each color vibrates with the other. Thickness and depth are no longer simply conveyed by the paper. Volume is present at every level. Does the gesture retain its energy if it's cut ?

While the blank sheet of paper is self-sufficient and exists on its own, my first intervention, a brushstroke or collage, breaks the initial balance. This first gesture creates tension and breaks the balance. It is itself an intruder in a space unprepared to receive it. So, from that moment on, my work will consist in finding a new general balance in this space. Through a creative process that brings me into confrontation with matter, surface and space, I let this fragmented identity express itself. I work on paper. Paint, frames, overlaps, fragments, reuses, tears, collages, erasures, writings, traces, shadows and dirt are the alphabet. They allow us to express the past, memories and repressions, and the present, internal conflicts, misunderstandings, anger and fear. I paint and compose without any pre-existing intention. The adaptive approach of reacting spontaneously to the unexpected gesture that precedes is essential. This spontaneity allows the "I" to express itself in the moment, like a bridge to the absolute of the self. I was born in Madagascar in 1972. I now live in Clichy near Paris. I spent several years in Tchad and West Africa during my childhood and adolescence. After studying ethnology, I worked in the media and the Web.
