About The Artwork

It's been more than two years since Dana passed away. I thought I had finished going through all the stages of grieving. I rarely ever thought about her. I tried my hand at abstract painting, playing around with different colors and textures. As I sketched, I started seeing her face in the shapes and imperfect brushstrokes. Lips with bold lipstick, the gentle curve of her face, eyes with deep shadows, and neat cornrows framing her face. It didn't exactly match her appearance, but my mind created a collage of memories. I tried to replicate this image on a bigger canvas, but I just couldn't get it right. The lines and brushstrokes were too precise, and it lacked depth. I gave up on trying to make a new painting because Dana's face was already staring back at me from the sketch. I transformed the sketch into a full-fledged painting, and a feeling of happiness and achievement washed over me. As I collected the painting from the studio, a sense of peace settled within me. Acceptance had finally arrived. The cycle had come to an end, but I will always miss her.

I began my artistic journey upon arriving in Georgia in the year 2020. Inspiration undoubtedly found its embodiment in the process of psychotherapy, which became an integral part of my creative process. Initially, my paintings were created for close friends and family, but soon they found their place on the walls of various bars and establishments in Tbilisi. I also participated in the decoration of several exhibitions and was an exhibitor myself. For me, art is the starting point for expressing emotions and experiences. It is a way to overcome life's challenges, convey thoughts, ideas, and stories using color, form, and texture. Practically every one of my works carries multiple meanings. Some pieces are experiments with color and form. I enjoy adding textures to make the works more dimensional and profound. Geometry serves as a means to soothe the mind, while expressionism is a way to express and release emotions
