About The Artwork

I wanted to explore a new path in my work, which actually began with some paintings last year (Namaste, Esoterica). This time I wanted to push it a bit further and hopefully communicate a sense of joy in these days of pandemic and confinement by using vivid colors. I used acrylic markers for the background lines and transparent oils for the buildings. This is giving a watercolor feel and a comic style which I intended. It was truly fun to do and I think it shows.

Born and raised in Douala (Cameroon) from Greek parents, I studied Graphic Design and advertising in France. After my studies, I lived and worked in many countries (France, Bermuda, Mexico, Canada) before settling to Greece in 1997 where I started my own agency. I was awarded for my work and had the Art Direction of various magazines (+Design, Insider Athens, Bonjour and others). While I have been creating art in various forms throughout my life it was not until 2013, after recovering from a serious heart surgery, that I gradually devoted myself to painting on a full-time basis. I admire and love the works of many artists, past and present, with very different styles and cultures. I wouldn't be able to judge myself as having a specific influence other than being mostly attracted to realism. This "labeling" makes me feel uncomfortable as by doing so, I believe people would expect me to create again and again in a certain way. I try to protect my freedom and the spontaneity to create whatever I want, as I want it, allowing myself to be entertained and for you to be surprised.
