About The Artwork

Devils Punchbowl is near my home and one of my favorite places to go on low tide. You can, at low tide be where the ocean is at high tide. See the starfish and pools of water in the great opening that during high tides shoots water out of the upper opening to the sky. It is a new series on paintings along the Oregon Coast. Let's preserve our natural areas. Water-soluble oil and real copper leaf on canvas. Hanger on back and 1.5 inch wooden frame of the canvas is covered in real copper leaf creating a slim contemporary frame. The painting is ready to hang upon receiving.

www.AnjaAlbosta.com My paintings have been called symbolic expressionism, my way to record history and process, nature and events. Oil paint or watercolor, collage, gold and silver leaf, bits of news articles and books. Historically art, has given humans an opportunity to open minds, express the unknown, grapple with different perspectives, observe and record history. I acquired a drafting degree from an apprenticeship in Germany early on and some years later an interior design degree. All interactions and events expressed in my paintings. As is all the traveling I have done. Sri Lanka, Croatia, Thailand, Mexico, Egypt, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Switzerland, France, Malaysia, the US and always Italy and Thailand again. My art and traveling the inner and outer journey of self discovery. Art, food, people, exploration. In 1998 I moved home to California once again. In 1999 in the wonderful Yosemite area I met my mountaineering husband and we built a home together. Having loved new places and experiences, I now went rock climbing and hiking in my home. My life filled with love for the Sierra Nevada. Since then, art became a main pursuit. For many years I have been working in mixed media, oil and collage. Currently I am working on a series called “Stardust" and "Earth-rise". The stuff we are all made of… a bit of beauty in every day life, always there. Past series include Greta Thunberg’s XR movement and art revolving around the pandemic and our geopolitical arena. In 2011-2012 the tree of life called “Yggdrasil” and the “Norns” were my inspiration. 2013-2016 brought forth a collection of paintings called “Raven”, connected to the black madonna of medieval Europe. From 2016-2018 my art revolved around “balance” and “the passing of time”. In 2018 we left our home in the Yosemite area and have relocated to the lovely central Oregon coast. It has been a privilege to live here. Currently my art is being shown at Peephole Gallery in Yachats and Ocean Beaches and Glass Gallery at Seal Rock. https://www.instagram.com/anjaalbosta/ https://www.anjaalbosta.com
