About The Artwork

Abstract acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas, with back brace, all sides painted, no staples, ready for display. I continue on with a color limited palette. The overall blue monochrome, coupled with black and white, conveys a mood reflected in the title. As day blends into night, evening twilight offers an aura of deep blue tranquility. Action painting persists in my mind, as I interpret the Pollock approach. Although I have to say, this work comes across as Abstract Impressionism rather than Abstract Expressionism. I love exploring the various forms of action painting and expanding the format into a real decorative motif. Some will groan at the term 'decorative', as this has become anathema in painting circles. I can only remind viewers of Pierre Bonnard, a french painter known primarily for his stylized, decorative qualities. Bonnard was a leading figure in the transition from Impressionism to Modernism. If there is any transition to be made from Abstract Expressionism to an Impressionist, decorative abstraction, perhaps now is the time to make those strides. Thank you for your time.

I am an American abstract painter. Every so often I veer into expressionist figuration. As an outsider I studied the fundamentals of art, the great artists, and the influential art movements throughout history, on my own. One of my goals is to always remain outside the norm. I am heavily influenced by the Abstract Expressionists from The New York School. Inspiration also comes to me from the works of Claude Monet, Joan Mitchell and Lee Krasner as well. The outsider ideal connects with me thanks to artists such as Jean Dubuffet and Jean Michel-Basquiat. Non-comformity defines what art should be. My mission is to create engaging and innovative artworks. I hope to extend an appreciation of artistic expression to a wide audience. The painting process I employ involves acrylic and mixed media. As I paint, color and material are combined on the canvas, and I love to merge drawing with painting. Many of my original paintings are found in collections across North America, Europe, and Asia. A Certificate of Authenticity ships with each painting, along with background information about the making of the piece. All the work you see is available. Thank you for looking.
