Edinburgh from Arthur's Seat Painting

This work was inspired by my hike up Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh, Scotland to see the city from above. The elevated view shows the contrast between the ancient city plan and contemporary developed streets of the city, and the park-like preserve of Arthur's Seat. While I climbed the hill and the view kept changing, I was thinking about the centuries of history reflected in this landscape. The painting was composed from photos I took on my hike and is oil paint on 1" archival panel. It is wired for hanging, and may be hung as-is or can be framed.
