About The Artwork
Eka Pada Vrishchikasana (a scorpion pose) is the name of the yoga position (asana) exhibited in the painting. This painting in a way is a dedication to a part of human nature seeking a perfection. For this painting I was looking for a complex and unusual human body position and as we all know yoga is the best place for it. After long search I chose a scorpion position, because it respond my eager to portray hardly reachable bodily goals. I am practicing yoga by myself and I know very well positions like that are impossible without complete transparency of a mind, concentration, patience and long practice. This painting was created with other pieces in a period when I was questioning the human nature. To be more precise I had one particular question in my mind: "What is closer to human nature - instincts or seeking of perfection?" This lead me to other questions: Who we are? Animals? Gods? Both? Partly I found an answer in Sigmund Freud's theory about psycho mechanism of a human kind that includes three parts: ego, superego and id.
