About The Artwork

I choose to work as an abstract artist because I love capturing raw emotion through color, texture, and brush strokes. I also love the freedom it allows for interpretation. I work in a limited palette to best express a full range of emotion through all the hues within a color family. I love this piece so much. It’s a real turning point piece for me. As I’ve been looking inward a lot lately, I’ve discovered that clouds hold a lot of symbolism that I gravitate towards. They often reflect emotions and the idea of dreams as they’re typically seen as a celestial body, separating the ground from the sky. I love the idea of expressing emotions through how fluffy or stormy a cloud is.

Award-winning artist Susan Verekar’s paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions in galleries throughout the United States and abroad, including Pivot Point Gallery in Knoxville, TN, Kefi Art Gallery in Toronto; Swiss Art Expo in Zurich, Biennale Art Expo in Venice, Italy; Camelback Gallery in Scottsdale, AZ; Fusion Art in Palm Springs, CA; and Art Show International in Los Angeles, CA. Susan Verekar, a native of Portland, Oregon, was discovered very young for having a significant musical talent. She has always been drawn to color, hearing music as different shades and hues. After college, she explored other fields. While she achieved success, something was always missing. She moved to Tennessee and started painting, falling in love with the raw emotion and self expression of exploring color and angles. Verekar works in her studio at the base of the Smoky Mountains. She lives in Knoxville, Tennessee, with her doting husband, strong willed four-year-old daughter, two greyhounds, and two crazy cats. Her future plans include more travel to capture diverse inspiration and a VR exhibition of her work.
