About The Artwork
I’ve questioned the nature of existence in this universe for as long as I can remember. When contemplating the unknown, my mind usually oscillates between childlike wonder and intense frustration because I can’t find the answers to many of my questions. Despite the fact that I will probably never fully wrap my brain around complex theories like quantum consciousness, I’ve decided that I can still have fun and enjoy that sense of wonder as I process through creating. Some things I’ve been wondering about: Are there splinters of the self that exist in different areas of space and time? If so, how many variations exist? At what critical point did they form? Can they communicate? Do they fully detach or are they forever tethered to each other? This work is the result of exploring those questions. Materials: Gouache on arches paper, mounted to birch panel and sealed with resin. 18x24 in. Wire-backed.

Ciara Froning is a graphic designer by day and a visual artist by night. She received her BFA in Studio Art from the University of Central Arkansas in 2013 and currently lives and works in Rogers, AR. Her work has been exhibited nationally, including Manifest Gallery, ShockBoxx, Gallery 1988, and more. She has also been featured in multiple publications, including The Hand Magazine and Beyond Words Magazine, to name a few. Painting and alternative pigment transfers are her preferred mediums. Artist Statement: There’s a constant pull between control and chaos. As a neurodivergent mother, I feel it intensely as I strive to simply meet the demands and responsibilities of daily life. In an effort to abandon negative coping patterns, I now find my peace through the process of painting. My recent work reflects my personal challenge to channel my inner chaos as I seek out the serene. Primarily using gouache and watercolor, I enjoy exploring themes of pop-culture, beauty found in ordinary objects, and the intricacies of the human psyche.
