About The Artwork
Traveling to Awassa in Ethiopia, I saw this mother and child. I was touched by their beauty and her clear and open love for her daughter. Of course I couldn't help but feel for these two, who clearly live in poverty. We tried to help them out in the only way we could, financially. In return she agreed to pose for me. I chose to create this with my airbrush, because I felt an urge to paint this and get it our of my system. The airbrush is a fast medium, but allows for the precision I wanted in this portrait.
