"Father and Son I" / God Undeciphered Painting

God Undeciphered is a depiction of our collective notion(s) of God. Such “understanding” is at best precarious, yet it is embedded in our conscience so deeply that hardly anything we do could be declared sovereign from it. The way we think, how hard we work, whether we raise a family or not, our joy or emptiness and even our disbeliefs are all rooted there. This precarious notion creates not only the cliched problem of dogmatism but also a deeper bias: neurosis. Every relation is based on standardized notions and reasonable expectations, but when it comes to God, nothing and everything can be expected: life and death and every kind of opposite interact at the same time, always far and mysterious, always incomprehensible. We have learned, mostly in childhood, but all throughout our lives, some things about God, none of them confronted with any factual reality, yet we believe in them uncritically. Neurosis is defined as an emotional instability caused y a notion that may or not be true. Hopefully, this work can bring a way to abandon such a neurotic relationship or shed at least some peace, not through knowledge but through the acceptance of our ignorance, we don’t really know what’s out there.
