Four Seasons Painting

Born and raised in New York City, as a teenager I became a profound and lifelong fan of the abstract expressionist movement of that era. Ten years ago, after retiring from a New York and South Florida business career, I began painting under the guidance and encouragement of Miles Laventhall of the Boca Raton Museum Art School. My current approach reflects the traditional hard-edge geometric abstraction, combined with the movement and energy characterized by the abstract expressionists. My compositions begin with a bold linear statement which extends to all four sides of the canvas. This statement creates the motion and energy desired in the completed work. It also serves as the framework for the vivid-colored under and overlapping shapes, which create for the viewer the experience of space and depth.
