One day I wanted to paint fiery female nudes that would be a tribute to the vitality and lushness of life in its joy and bloom - colors, forms, light. Once upon a time, a painting by Eugene Delacroix - "The Death of Sardanapal", I met at the Louvre, made a huge impression on me. The series of nudes "Wives of Sardanapal" painted by me is my painterly conversation with Delacroix.
