This piece is a reflection about part of my cultural heritage. Combining ritual use of plants for healing and spiritual cleansing from my bisabuelas (great grand mothers). Each form in the painting is a close-up of different plants such as Ruda, Rosemary, Rose, Albahaca, Pochota and Guava, used for ritual cleansing. In order to represent these traditions I used their forms, lines and structures, one on top of the other since that is the way its commonly used. I added a few circular golden figures as sign of the unknown, the connection with the divine. Overall, the painting expresses the energy that comes from the "limpias" and some of the plants considered sacred in this traditions.

Sometimes I draw. Sometimes I paint. Sometimes I make objects. But most of all, I make artists' books. For me, the book is a sacred, magic object. One that has different kinds of power in it, from a time - capsule that shows specific events, cultural heritage, family stories, to a strong critical voice. Whenever I paint, I focus on form and color. Color has been always interesting for me and I keep exploring its possibilities. I also integrate drawing-like strokes into painting in order to create something in between. Finally, Drawing manifests itself within my work either on paper, graphic arts such as printmaking or litography and in embroidery. For me, Embroidery is at the same time, drawing and writing. In terms of subject, I reflect about memory, melancholic figures and gender-based violence. I find today's world manifests through these atmospheres.
