About The Artwork

It is the sixth oil-acrylic painting from series of "Herring Spring". I was inspired by national symbols of Netherlands: tulips and herring. Since the Middle Ages the Dutch have a special relationship with raw herring, it's their traditional dish called "Hollandse Nieuwe" (not everybody knows it). As for tulips, well this flowers always associate with Netherlands. Everybody knows "Tulip fever". Right? The painting is painted with high quality oil paint on canvas and varnished with a glossy varnish. I combined this symbols in a calm surrealistic way.

Van Adel stands at the confluence of fluidity and form, bridging the delicate worlds of watercolor painting and paper sculpture with unparalleled grace and creativity. With a deep-rooted passion for exploring the ephemeral beauty of nature and emotions, Van Adel's work captures the transient moments of life, immortalizing them in muted watercolor and meticulously sculpted paper. Artist harnesses the unpredictability of watercolors to depict scenes that pulsate with life, energy, and movement. This mastery of the medium is complemented by an innovative approach to paper sculpture, where paper is not just a canvas but a living, breathing entity that is folded, curved, and sculpted into intricate three-dimensional forms that challenge the viewer's perception of space and depth. Van Adel's artistic journey began in the serene countryside, where the subtle beauty of the natural world became a constant source of inspiration. This connection to nature is evident in every piece, serving as a reminder of the beauty that surrounds us and the fleeting moments that make life precious.
