About The Artwork
This painting is from my Endangered Wildlife series, and although Hippos are not endangered yet, I feel they need to be better understood both by tourists and the people who live in close proximity to them. They are known as one of the most dangerous animals when caught out of the water. I have always loved watching them in the water as they look like large peaceful whales, bobbing in and out of the water and wanted to capture that quality in this composition.
