Implementing Boundaries Painting

From my journal: “There was a time when I never implemented boundaries in any area of my life. Relationships, work, and even my relationship with myself. I wasn’t able to express to others, how their actions made me feel. I’d people please. I’d allow others to disrespect and walk over me to “keep the peace”. I’d put up with toxic behaviours, because “they’re family” or “that’s just who they are”. It took growth, inner work, healing and lots of therapy to learn that putting up with other people’s shitty behaviour is bullshit, and I will never tolerate that again; from anyone. When you implement a boundary with someone, it’s because you want to continue having them in your life. If they choose to repeatedly violate your boundaries, then they’ve shown you what you needed to see. We can’t control other people, but we can control what we tolerate. Remember, you’re not a bad person for setting healthy boundaries, and you’re not a bad person for sticking with them.” Multiple layers of thick acrylic paint, paper mache, dried paint and gouache were used to help create texture. Mediums applied using my bare hands, paint brushes and palette knives. Ships in a wooden crate.
