About The Artwork

In Her Frail Gown is inspired by a Farsi poem by poet Bita Razavi. It talks about a traditional society's perception of women as a fragile and a silken kind. And it explains how easy it is to shatter a woman of that kind. The poem maneuver around this delicate subject with a strong symbolic language. It illustrates the frailness of women's place with a smooth discourse. I chose a traditional eastern gown, turned it to a quilt to bring in the element of the time. And I used some rather modern colors to tie the contemporary woman to her predecessors. This artwork is painted on a stretched fine art grade canvas and is not framed. This will ship to as the canvas only, rolled with all the necessary protective material in a tube. It will be shipped without the canvas's wooden frame which holds it stretched. It needs to be unrolled as soon as you receive it. Thanks for browsing.

I am an Iranian artist based in Chicago. I moved to the United States in 2005 to pursue my education in art. My education in illustration gave me storytelling skills. I mix storytelling with my love for expressive abstract art and non-abstract paintings and almost always I start my my work with a story and a feeling in mind and develop them from there and often, I let the music or my feelings take over my painting. My work has been recognized by The Society of Illustrators in New York and The Illustrator’s Club of DC, MD and VA. Currently I live in Chicago and works as a painter and as a freelance illustrator.
