About The Artwork

This work is a figurative painting from the "Interior" series. It is part of the reflection of the philosopher Gaston Bachelard in his book "The poetics of space" and more particularly on "The intimate immensity". It presents an empty room, with in the foreground a wooden armchair and green fabrics on a pink carpet facing on the left an invisible window, on the right of which a white curtain is swayed by the wind. The color palette is in light tones, except for the upholstery of the armchair and the rug which assert their joyful presence. The atmosphere is peaceful and Einstein in vacation clothes will come back to sit on the armchair and meditate. The title "Einstein On A Seat" refers to Robert Wilson and Philip Glass' opera "Einstein On A Beach".
