About The Artwork

There was a beauty in Italy called Iris. With her good heart and noble character, she married a Roman prince, but soon after, he died of illness. There were many people who proposed to Iris, but she did not respond to anyone, and she always adored only the blue sky in her heart. Then one day, she met a young painter on her walk, and he too fell in love with Iris. The painter eagerly proposed, and in the end, moved by the artist's enthusiasm, Iris offered the following conditions: "Please draw the same flower as you live." The painter drew with all his enthusiasm, and Iris was moved by the beautiful figure the moment she saw it. But soon she gave a disappointed exclamation, "There is no scent in this picture." It was then. A yellow butterfly flew in from somewhere and sat down gently on the painting, folding its wings calmly and kissing the flowers. At that moment, Iris was thrilled and kissed the painter. Since then, the blue sky blue flower, Iris, retains the scent of the kiss they first shared, and still smells sweet and deep when the flower blooms.

Through observing and drawing various aspects of our lives, I am thinking about myself, and furthermore, about the existence of humans. The various techniques and materials that I learn while working on my drawings also help me understand the world and live a better life. On the contrary, the knowledge and various experiences that I learn in life help me work better and find answers to why I paint. Through those processes, ultimately, I want to be an artist who captures and paints the beauty that exists in every moment.
