Inspiration: This contemporary still life was inspired by the vibrant allure of tropical paradises, specifically focusing on the cheerful and iconic pineapple. The pineapple, or ananas, symbolizes hospitality and welcome, reflecting the warmth and inviting nature of tropical locales. Viewer Experience: I hope viewers feel a sense of happiness and relaxation when they look at this artwork. The vivid depiction of tropical fruit and plants is meant to bring a burst of joy and a feeling of being transported to a lush, paradisiacal setting. The artwork aims to infuse any interior space with a sense of tropical bliss and tranquility. Medium and Style: The choice of oil painting allows for rich, textured layers that bring out the lushness of the tropical flora and the vibrant hues of the pineapple. The subject matter of tropical fruits and plants captures the essence of paradise, while the contemporary style offers a fresh, modern twist on traditional still life. This blend of flora and fruit creates a visually appealing piece that brings happiness and a relaxed vibe to any interior, making it ideal for those seeking to add a touch of tropical cheer to their living spaces. Story Behind the Name: The name "It Is A Boy" holds a special place in my heart. While I was painting this piece, my best friend called to share the joyous news that she is expecting a boy! This happy moment infused the artwork with an extra layer of joy and celebration. Thus, “It Is A Boy" is not only a representation of the lush beauty of tropical fruits and plants but also a commemoration of that unforgettable, happy announcement.

I am a London-based visual artist who is deeply inspired by the Baroque epoch and its parallels with the contemporary moment. As a child born during the Chernobyl Disaster, I have always been fascinated by the quest for immortality through science and art, and the vulnerability and strength of the body. My background in Baroque painting and theatre design has heavily influenced my contemporary art practices, allowing me to create bold and punkish works that are not afraid to tackle contemporary issues. My aim is to make painting popular again, just like it was in the Baroque times, creating works that leave a lasting impression and provide catharsis. Drawing inspiration from fashion icons like Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood, I seek to push the boundaries of painting and make it a relevant and contemporary art form. I am an active participant in the London art scene, with my most recent exhibition being a solo show at Hampstead Art School in April 2023. I am constantly seeking to challenge myself and push the boundaries of what is possible with painting, and I hope to continue to do so for many years to come.
