About The Artwork

Of course, I read Bunin and Nabokov. I read their biographies and looked about them films. I cannot say that they became the subject of my particular interest. But it so happened that in 2016 my wife and daughter and I ended up in France. We walked around Paris, along the Seine embankment. I photographed a lot. When we returned home, I wanted to write a large canvas about the trip, and also small sketches-scenes in the open air. I didn't want to create a historical, philosophical or conceptual picture. I decided to rewrite history armed with humor and irony. I put my heroes in the modern world into another life, into another reality. A world in which the lives of real and fictional characters would develop differently. This approach is practiced in literature and cinema. But the picture is not about Nabokov, Bunin and Lolita
