About The Artwork

As I gazed out upon the shadowed form, questions of power and destiny arose unbidden in my mind. Who is this lone figure suspended before the void? What sacred duty or earthly concerns occupy his lonely vigil? Though stripped of crown and scepter, still he retains through subtle clue of heraldry, the indelible mark of sovereign rule. Yet closer examination reveals a subtler truth - for all the trappings of nobility and dominance are absented here. In their place remains solely the dignified silhouette of a man, ephemeral yet eternal, who holds solitary court over realms unseen. It is a image that gives pause, an image that reminds the observer where true dominion lies - not without, in gilded hall or tapestried bower, but within one's own essence. For each soul, however briefly or obscurely, wears unmatched royalty as part of its divine birthright. It is a simple form, yet one hopes it may stir recollection of that greater, inner kingdom to which all people heir, regardless of worldly station. And perhaps, for but a moment, lighten the labour or lift the spirit of those who look upon it and find reflected there a glimmer of their own concealed majesty. Such is the hope, at least, of this humble petitioner who set brush to canvas in offering this silhouette portrait entitled "King" for your reflection.
