La divina esfera Painting

The spheres that represent our Universe are inspired by the drawings made by Leonardo Da Vinci for Luca Pizzioli's book "The Divine Proportion"; It constitutes a modern reinterpretation of Platonism. The one-dimensional points here delimit two-dimensional discs that finally join in perfectly ordered axes to shape the sphere, the three-dimensional symbol of absolute perfection. This infinity of points, interpretable as the most basic units of the universe; they form through calculations, proportions and the mathematical rules that govern it, increasingly perfect forms. These proportions are thus the bridge between the material world and the absolute perfection of the platonic world of ideas. From the disorder emerges an order dictated by the divine proportions of the universe. This work shows how mathematics, commonly dubbed "The Language of the Universe," and artistic expression help man in his quest to understand these divine rules and proportions.
