About The Artwork

To punish pupils who would not behave at school, it was customary to send them "to the corner" or "to the picket", standing, facing the wall, with their backs to the rest of the class. This is how the female model in this triptych poses, but there is neither wall nor class, so it was possible to turn around her and look at her face and see the face of punishment. This work is produced in mixed technique on canvas and combines photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (glaze and relief squares). This is a unique piece. It is framed in black wood (total dimensions: approximately 66 x 30 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 60 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
