Leo Grossman's last tour. A pilot fighting in WW 2. My mother would often recount that my great-grandmother never recovered from his death. He was quite young when he died, and was her youngest.I found this photo buried in a family album left by my mother. It seemed to embody all of the pain of loss, and a moment in time for Uncle Leo who should have come home soon. For some reason the use of applied sharp wood pieces, combined with paint and ink, seemed fitting to depict this terrible family tragedy.
