This transition was inspired by her potent, yet fractured, dreams, following her recent withdrawal from anti-depressants. Although the work has a sightly darker feel, the subjects are vibrant and expressive; emerging from darkness. A sense of movement in the paintings is crucial, demonstrating fluidity of life and emotions, and ultimately symbolising transition. This painting is a reflection of the shift in Gretel's mental-health, having been subject to feeling a numbness and dullness for several years.
