In this painting I tried to represent the contrast between the suffering of the planet, its uncertain fate, and the human indifference. A colorful beach crowded with tourists no longer has the "natural" compendium of clear waters and summer sun, but is dominated by a black sky that has even swallowed the sea. We do not find either the moon or the stars, in the past a reference for travelers, sailors and bearers of an idea of destiny. Instead, there is a skeletal carapace, a new star that has nothing wonderful about it and that refers to the fate of the planet connected to a humanity unaware and indifferent even to its own future. The elements of the composition are taken from memories of my last trip to Sardinia last summer: the beach is inspired by Cala del Morto in the Chia locality in Domus de Maria (Ca), while the carapace is one of the many I saw while walking along the paths of the Mal di Ventre island, located a few miles off the Sinis peninsula (Or). Final varnish, signed certificate of authenticity.

I am a visual artist living and working in Turin. In my practice I usually take visual references from the universe of swimming to create artworks that deal with contemporaneity and the new problems involved in being part of it, with particular regard for the environment and young people’s difficulties in finding their way for the future. In my main painting series Pools (2017 - ongoing), I use recurring elements in my own life experience, modifying and recombining them in order to create paintings that can provide an active reflection on today's critical issues. Over the last years and within a context of eco-sustainable practice, I've started a study project on recycled materials, in order to find alternative supports to the canvas and question the hierarchy between the various components of the artwork. In my shop you will find also some landscape paintings and studies of old masters that I realized during my art studies.
