Ships in a Crate
This 3-panel painting, measuring 100x60 cm each, features a joyful juxtaposition of yellow, white, and blue mangroves and chairs. The chairs evoke the presence of humans and invite viewers to sit and connect with nature while respecting its laws. The painting was exhibited in May 2023 at the Aranciera di San Sisto in Rome, Italy, a prestigious public space owned by the City of Rome. If purchased, the painting will come with a catalog. The painting was created using a two-step process. The first step involved pouring paint onto the canvases to create a flowing, satisfying effect. The second step involved finding a suitable subject.

I am an Italian artist born in Rome, where I live and work. The first experience I remember as an artist dates back to when I was very young and I loved to draw and cut and paste by hiding under the living room table in my parents' house, everything I do now in my studio. Certainly resin is a constant in my production. Over the years, I have developed a technique centred on the chromatic and structural relationship between liquid matter, pigments and the sign line. The latter is sometimes embodied in figures with liquid strokes, deliberately far removed from a didactic figurative. Thus, the protagonists of the works in the 'Suspended Atmospheres' series, for example, are colour and light, symbols of my intimate dimension, and the sign which, when present, lives in a timeless and metaphysical dimension. While in the latest works in the series 'Close Your Eyes' there is a dualism between basic abstractionism and figurative symbolism. I divide the work into two phases, the first one very instinctive in which I pour the various colours, enamel, acrylic and resin on the canvas, and then in the second phase I combine elements of nature with objects related to the sphere of everyday life, which evoke human presence and refer to a conscious use of the environment. Chairs, armchairs and interiors announce women and men without making them manifest, leaving the observer with a feeling of experience linked to his or her own emotional sphere. Through these, I would like to invite us to stop, to close our eyes to enjoy the breath of creation and in doing so to finally see a new reality to be experienced in harmony with Nature.
