Watercolor has a lightness and a poetic texture that is almost impossible to achieve with oil or acrylic paint. It is a language of its own, different than oil or acrylic, and I like to go back into it once in a while, especially when treating something as delicate as a Japanese woman's face.

Christophe Vacher is a two-time Emmy Award Winner and two-time Annie Award Nominee who has provided artwork for the Animation industry and most major Hollywood Studios since 1989 as a painter, designer and Art Director. He worked on movies such as The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, Tarzan, Fantasia 2000, Dinosaur, Treasure Planet, Shark Tale, Enchanted, “9” and Despicable Me. He has been Art Directing Hasbro’s Transformers TV series for 7 years. Originally French, he now lives in California. His personal paintings can be seen permanently in several galleries and various collections in Europe and the United States. For the first time, one of his painting sold at a Christie's Art auction in Paris in 2015. He has given numerous lectures at various events and universities across the US and France, including the San Francisco Academy or Arts, the University of California in Berkeley and the California State University of Northridge. The style of Christophe’s personal imagery has multiple influences; from old painting schools like the Hudson River, The American Realists, The great American Illustrators, The Romantics and the European Symbolists for their grandiose, theatrical scenery, to more contemporary artists like Sandorfi, Beksinski, Ugarte and The Visionaries (Les Visionnaires) in France. Travel and music are a large part of his inspiration as well.
