art is something we artists are willing to suffer for. we struggle to make a living and at the same to create meaningful images that might give some hope to others. the sacrifice is that we might never get the recognition, we sort of live in a limbo, outkasts, outsiders. family sometimes does not support us nor understands us. why are we not doing something more simple, something decorative and easy to understand. who is this character anyway?

this is the back of the wood panel. ideally it is best if you would frame this painting. But it is ready to hang if you want to as well.

I am interested in experimenting with sincretic images that capture the whole range of religious experiences. I am inspired by the architecture and mural paintings of the Aztecs, Mayan, Zapotecan and other peoples from America and I like to intersect them with the aesthetics brought to America by the Spanish, like virgins, saints and holy beings. I intersect them with a third paradigm which is my personal journey into Indian philosophies and the idea of enlightenment. The result shows where I am now, believing that art is the way, and being an artist is my religion.
