About The Artwork

An iconic portrait of Marilyn Monroe by Andy Warhol has become the most expensive 20th century work of art ever sold. It traded at a Christie's auction in New York for US$195 million. Warhol painted Shot Sage Blue Marilyn in 1964 using a famous photograph as inspiration. It is also the highest price ever paid for an American work of art. Tribute to a star and the king of art marketing who made it. This time done with a brush, Warhol started from a Polaroid photograph and then printed it using the Screen technique, something that gave him the possibility to create an art factory... That is precisely what he called his workshop "La Fabrica" (The Factory).

I worked more than 35 years of my life in advertising. Art has always been my companion. Figurative painter. Available for commissions, I am always happy to discuss requests, and can easily be arranged through Saatchiart or directly dpjpalaciosdiego@gmail.com.co Viktor Frankl, psychiatrist who survived the Nazi concentration camps, said that man needs something in his life as motivation to be able to continue with the weight of adversity, something to live for. I have been suffering for more than 6 years from a disease called chronic axonal polyneuropathy, in normal words, it is the damage of the nerves of the peripheral system. Since I was a child, I was privileged to be able to pick up a pencil and express things in a very easy and natural way, from the moment my disease manifested itself, this disappeared, to the point of almost not being able to write, but thanks to that fighting spirit that Viktor Frankl spoke about, I found in art a form of therapy and cure for my ailments, and today I express through my art feelings that many people find beautiful. I believe that we need heroes, idols, people who fill our lives with examples of courage, with words, images and sounds, that make our journey more bearable. That is why I paint people, and sometimes animals that are very important to those people.
