About The Artwork
In series Defragment I decided to introduce a painting about the relationship of humans with the ocean. The water, the sea, the ocean represents a very individual sphere in the unconscious of each one of us. I have always lived in cities near the sea - first in Tallinn, and now in Lisbon. The sea has always been part of my life. Through abstract language, with expressive geometric elements I invite the viewer to make a journey into his personal relationship with the world of the ocean. I used my author's technique, with application of several layers of acrylic paint with some details drawn with dry pastel.

Vera Fonseka is an artist based in Portugal whose paintings have been widely exhibited nationally. She describes her works as conveying the paradoxical existence between the scrupulous intricacy of the details and the brutality of iconography. Fonseka's artistic process is marked by her use of mixed techniques with adhesives, fabrics, acrylics, and oils on canvas. She was born in 1982 in Tallinn (ex URSS, actually Estonia) in an actors-family. In 2003 Vera moved to Portugal where she's been living since then. Inspired by Kandinsky, Frank Stella, Beatriz Milhazes and Alexandra Mir, Vera Fonseka tries to make conceptual contribution in Contemporary Art.
