Recently I love overpainting earlier works I wasn´t really happy with. I feel that it suits the paintings well and this is a way of painting similar to the old Dutch masters, painting in thin layers from gouache, egg tempera to oil. Oil in former times was too expensive to use for the whole painting. Nowadays, it is not a question of expensiveness but of light. Many different layers make an impression of lots of light behind the clouds, and I love to catch this special light very much. This abstract painting reminds me of a stormy morning at the still wild sea, the morning light breaking through already making a wonderful atmosphere of dawn. Morning is a synonym for a new chance in life, a new start, new promises and so it is a symbol of hope. Every morning, we start a new life.

80x80x2 cm, Gouache, Pastels, Oil on gallery wrapped canvas. Signed on the back, ready to hang. Would love a white or silver deep frame, though. If you want me to arrange that, please contact me. Certificate of Authenticity included.
(c) Gesa Reuter 2008/2018

Please be aware that colors may differ on different monitors. This painting contains a lot of light blue and pink colors with little white. It has some texture due to the mixed materials.

Based in Germany, Gesa Reuter’s artistic practice started in 1996. She has since studied the techniques of the old Dutch masters, layering selfmade gouache, egg tempera and sometimes oil to build her paintings with different layers of paint from thin to thick. Recently she has discovered the power of watercolours and ink in her work, enjoying the way the watery materials leave marks and traces to describe her inner feelings and emotions. Rather than painting an accurate visual representation of a landscape, she prefers to use the power of memory; her artworks are an expression of her feelings and emotions in the moment of experiencing the landscape." (Inside Artists, Issue 9, Summer 2017) So far, her works have been exhibited in Germany and Europe, mainly sold to private collectors in Germany, U.S.A., UK, NL, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, to architects, small companies, private medical and psychological practices. In public collection of Amateras Foundation, Bulgaria, NHS England and Kunsthaus Stove, Germany.
