About The Artwork

Mount Belukha is the highest of the Altai mountains, part of the famous Katunsky ridge. Its height at the highest point is 4509 meters. The mountain received this name for the abundance of snow, which persists even in summer. Summer travelers are mesmerized by the contrasting sight of snow-capped slopes and peaks surrounded by the greenery and colors of blooming meadows. Belukha is the snowiest of all the mountains in the Katunsky range. Travelers call the mountain and its surroundings a place of power. People here feel a wave of strength and special energy of the nature of the Altai Mountains. It is impossible to forget this trip, it remains forever in the hearts of those who have been here at least once; the mountain draws you to itself even from thousands of kilometers away. The Katunsky ridge, which stretches for 150 kilometers, ends with this famous mountain right on the border of Russia with Kazakhstan. In the mountainous areas, where Mount Belukha is located, the climate is quite harsh. The winter here is very frosty and long, and the summer is short and not very hot. There are even frosts in the summer months. The total area of the glaciers on all slopes is 150 square kilometers. Belukha is the highest point in Siberia. The Katun River, which originates at the foot of the mountain, is not always the same color, it changes depending on the time of year and the intensity of glacier melting: from azure to dark gray. Beluga is equidistant from all four oceans. The indigenous people of Altai consider the mountain sacred and worship it and the spirits that live here. The mountain is located in an area of high seismic activity (in 7-8 points). Quite often there are small vibrations here. Because of this, snow avalanches of various sizes descend from the slopes. Some scientists and researchers draw a parallel between the belt of the constellation Orion and the three mountain peaks, calling them the projection of the three stars of the constellation.
