This piece is one of my plaster based works. The work is based on the old game of Naughts and Crossed which most of us have played at some time in our life. I used to have a lot of fun playing this game with my grandkids. And some times they would let me win. When you first look at this piece you automatically look to see who won. In this case it was the Naught (zero's). It is a simplistic looking artwork until you look closely at the base behind the color, with all the extra embedded naughts and crosses. The plaster gives depth to the texture and in the right light gives shadow lines that accentuate and enhance the simplicity of this piece. It is perfect for a games room or some where that you want to make a statement. This is a very unique piece of art. I made this piece in 2007 for my grand children who are now much older. Now I think it is time for some one else to enjoy the character of this unusual piece of art. The painting / sculpture is 91 cm high and 122 cm wide. It is on a stretched canvas that has blocks glued to the cross members of the frame to support the weight and minimize movement in the plaster. It weighs nearly 6 Kgs. The assortment of bases gives Patrick’s work depth, while the bulk and shadow lines bolster the pieces character. As Patrick’s work is evolutionary his latest style remains contemporary abstract. He uses various mediums and acrylics in fluid states to produce a mixture of abstract colours and shapes. Most of Patrick’s inspiration comes from the everyday world around him. He enjoys the challenge of mastering different techniques. Patrick has had many exhibitions, either solo or combined with other artists. He has won acclaim and awards for his abstract imagination.
