About The Artwork
The street I live on is stone buildings, dating from when it was a successful part of the local fishing industry. Built using local sandstone, these buildings can sing with such colour after rainfall. This painting was in part a response to that, and a nod to the history of my home here on the North East coast of Scotland. This particular gable end belongs to my neighbours home, and is a very familiar sight to me, overlooking my front garden. Created using a process of painting into charcoal, this painting uses Golden Acrylics and charcoal on a deep stretched canvas. Unvarnished and unframed.
