About The Artwork

The artwork belongs to the series "Nocturnes" ("Night Pieces"). These works explore the sensuality of the act of painting and are characterized by an intense emotionality and an expressive painting style. What makes them special is the distinctive material and spontaneous color effect as well as the impressive picture surface, which the artist creates using a self-developed process with acrylic paint on high-quality medium-grain canvas fabric. Surprising details, such as fine structures and "waves of color" protruding from the canvas, can be seen up close (see detailed photos). There is a strong contrast between the silky matt surface of the color material and the dark cobalt blue background, which evokes a nocturnal atmosphere. The canvas is stretched on stretcher bars and reinforced with 1-2 crossbars on the back. All pictures in the series can be presented in either portrait or landscape format. The pictures are not framed. Their edges are painted and the back of the canvas is primed in white or black. They are particularly suitable for hanging in spacious (living) rooms, offices, halls and foyers. Nocturne (10) shows overlapping areas of glowing red and gold tones in the center of the picture, overlaid by blackish traces of color. The surrounding darker mass of color merges into the deep blue background.
