About The Artwork
The antique oil painting is from 1940 and by a painter named Schöthen. The painting looked so gray and lonely to me that I knew: it needs a lot of energy, color and love. In 1940, the couple would have met secretly in the cottage, but in 2012, of course, they make out quite freely and happily in nature. Pure life, freedom and carefreeness make up for all the dustiness. The couple in return gets a quiet and relaxed retreat. A place of silence that will remain forever. They dive into the old, forgotten world and become ONE with it. The unite of opposites makes the charm for me: constant and fast-moving, monotonous and gaudy, slow and fast, inconspicuous and eye-catching. So a new impulse comes into the painting and tells a new story. I would like to offer the viewer the unity of opposites to relax stimulated.
