During a Maya ceremony, guided by a priest in the midst of meditation, I experienced a strange event. With closed eyes, I began to see images in my mind. While everyone around me also had their eyes closed, I witnessed what I could describe as a vision of hell. I found myself transported to a place resembling outer space, where I encountered an entity whose body consisted of rings in constant rotation and spinning upon themselves. This being had eyes all over its body, and as it continued to spin, its eyes also moved, gradually increasing their speed. A couple of days passed after that unusual ceremony, and a memory emerged in my mind. I recalled that in some prior reading, I had come across information about angels, as described in the Bible, being extremely peculiar creatures. The vision I experienced during the ceremony seemed to align with the descriptions of the 'thrones,' also known as Ofanim, mysterious beings that appeared before the prophet Ezekiel in the Bible. Their role in the heavenly realm is to guard the throne of God. This encounter in the Maya meditation left me with a sense of wonder and a deep desire to further explore the connections between spiritual visions and representations of celestial beings in various religious and cultural traditions.

Carlos Jimenez finds his greatest source of inspiration in love and life. His observation of the lives that surround him, which transmit a spark to him, is the essential driving force that moves the artist to bring each work to fruition, using pieces of memories and his heart, sometimes broken, sometimes filled with unforgettable memories. His work is personal and very passionate, reflecting his sense of the search for a truth that may or may not exist. His philosophy is pragmatic, but with esoteric and passionate points of view about the meaning of life and the destiny of each person in the world. A little referenced to Albert Camus, Jimenez accepts the absurd and embraces it. To paraphrase Frédéric Beigbeder, he says, “My problem is that I don't believe in God, but I do believe in miracles.”
