About The Artwork

I made this painting, thinking back my younger years in 80's. Claude Viallat was one of the painters who influenced me a lot. It just made me put some irregular dots of violet on the canvas. The surface of the painting is made of stacked cardboard with glue and acrylic putty then I mounted canvas on it. So it looks rather like an object than a mere canvas. Painting on objects has been my major subject since I started my career as an artist. That's why I made this object to paint and draw with conte and color pencil on it. This painting has no hanging hardware with it so I recommend it to be just put in a transparent acrylic box so that it could be protected. Or you can put it in thick wooden frame behind the glass. Several collectors have chosen this for their favorites. So, I put this on SALE price of $1700 from its original price of $2000. Wish you all have a great day ^_^

Korean Painter, Sculptor Born in 1962, Studied at Hong Ik University majoring in Painting(BFA) Lives and works in Paju,South Korea. - "All the ideas for this 'Paddling' Series come from playing in the water or paddling on the water. Your thought on where the brushstrokes begins and ends just make sense in that point. Because when you paddle on the water, the act of paddling appears on the water and then disappears. In that sense, it's meaningless to find where it starts and ends and even meaningless to distinguish 'drawing' action from 'erasing' action on water. That's how I drew the concept of 'drawing on water', so to speak, onto the canvas in this series" - 2020, Yoon Joo
