About The Artwork

Abstract acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas, all sides roughly painted, no staples, with back brace, ready to show. Pangea is a companion piece to my painting Carnival. Sometimes I have the urge to finish a particular line of thought by adding a follow up painting, or what I call a "companion" piece, to my original concept. In the two paintings Carnival and Pangea, I employ yellow as my background color theme and just abstract from that point on. So I have been branching into a figurative cubist realism as of late, but in this painting I have worked hard to abstract the picture as much as possible, destroying any hint of representation that might crop up. The influence of Pollock is apparent in this work, and Carnival. However Pangea is grounded in an underlying color field structure that eventually morphs into an action painting. The title of this work, Pangea, refers to the original supercontinent of long ago earth. As the continents once clustered together, in this painting there is a clustering of abstract painting ideas that come together in a more unified form. Thank you for looking. Peace and Love.

I am an American abstract painter. Every so often I veer into expressionist figuration. As an outsider I studied the fundamentals of art, the great artists, and the influential art movements throughout history, on my own. One of my goals is to always remain outside the norm. I am heavily influenced by the Abstract Expressionists from The New York School. Inspiration also comes to me from the works of Claude Monet, Joan Mitchell and Lee Krasner as well. The outsider ideal connects with me thanks to artists such as Jean Dubuffet and Jean Michel-Basquiat. Non-comformity defines what art should be. My mission is to create engaging and innovative artworks. I hope to extend an appreciation of artistic expression to a wide audience. The painting process I employ involves acrylic and mixed media. As I paint, color and material are combined on the canvas, and I love to merge drawing with painting. Many of my original paintings are found in collections across North America, Europe, and Asia. A Certificate of Authenticity ships with each painting, along with background information about the making of the piece. All the work you see is available. Thank you for looking.
