About The Artwork

Title: "Parus major" Technique: oil on oak board Dimensions: 16 x 16 cm; framed painting 29.6 x 29.6 cm Frame technique: solid oak strips covered with French polish and sgraffito (24-carat gold covered with tempera) The "Parus major" painting was created on an oak substrate prepared in a traditional manner. This substrate was covered with a thin, smooth layer of chalk-glue ground. Then, it was impregnated with a priming made of black pigment and linseed oil, which served as the foundation for further work. The painting process was conducted using layered and glazing techniques, which allowed for exceptional control over the process, as well as depth and quality of the image. Only the highest class paints and painting mediums were used in the creation of this work. The entire piece was secured with varnish, further emphasizing its finish and protecting it from external factors. The frame was made from four solid oak strips, glued together with traditional animal glue. It was then covered with layers of black French polish, giving it a deep, glossy appearance. The gilding, made from 24-carat gold, adds extraordinary elegance to the frame, and the polishing process with agates makes the gold beautifully shine. Particular attention is drawn to the sgraffito technique, which involves scratching delicate patterns into the gold surface, creating a stunning contrast in combination with the matte finish of the tempera, adding depth and character to the entire composition. I'm an artist and conservator, blending traditional techniques with modern innovation. My academic foundation was laid at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, where I excelled in my master's thesis on creating a technological replica of a 17th-century Dutch still life. My work emphasizes the meticulous selection of materials, from oak boards to handmade paints, ensuring each piece resonates with the quality and depth of its historical inspirations. Utilizing a technique of multiple lasered layers, I dedicate 3 to 6 months to each artwork, crafting pieces that are not only visually captivating but also rich in historical value.
