HUTT LAGOON, also known as Pink Lake, is a famous scenic spot located in Western Australia. It holds a special place in my heart as it was the first destination on my road trip from Perth to Broome. The lake's distinct pink color made it feel almost magical and set it apart from other bodies of water. Interestingly, Pink Lake is a type of Salt Lake. Many visitors often wonder what causes the lake to have such a unique color. The answer lies in the presence of certain algae that inhabit the lake's waters. When exposed to sunlight, these algae produce beta-carotene, which gives the lake its pink hue. The degree of pinkness may vary depending on the season and salinity levels, with hotter temperatures often resulting in a more vibrant pink color.
