She was deaf for the first three and half years of her life, this made her incredibly reliant and aware of her surroundings. With the backlog of learning she felt like an outsider, incredibly shy and nervous. Drawing became a big element of her daily life from a very young age. Marianne started out studying design and architecture at St.Martins in London. She feels that architecture is strongly connected to learning and understanding nature in a very purposeful way. Her career path after graduating is very diverse, rather than choosing a straight career path, she consciously has chosen to be out of her comfort zone. Working for and with diverse clients, learning and developing herself in the creative industries. Marianne started to paint in 2016, at the age of thirty in London and very quickly decided that she wanted to dedicate all her time and effort towards painting. She started to learn and practice the techniques of the Dutch Old Masters, this is also a great influence in her work. Marianne continues to develop herself as a self defined artists. Craft and technique is at the core of her work. She has a real hunger for study and continues to work with specialists to develop her work. Marianne’s art is explorative and very playful, referring to symbology and interpretation. She sees her work as constantly moving and likes to be in the moment when she creates her work, which gives her work enormous focus. Her work is very personal and intimate, she sees her art work as thoughts that are captured. Marianne’s art career has flourished very quickly. Published in Vogue Living and the New York Times. She collaborates and is represented by clients all over the world. Her work is part of several great private and public collections such as Soho House. Marianne Hendriks shares her wonderment of nature in a painting practice highly informed by her background in architecture and design. With each distillation of a leaf into a simple abstraction, Marianne attempts to make sense of the world by categorically manipulating geometry and form. Her oil paintings possess a rhythmic quality, created by the repetition of pattern and texture, and seek out balance between realism and highly stylised expression. Marianne returned to the Netherlands after graduating with a BA in Architecture & Spatial Design with Honours at Central St. Martins, London, England. Her works have been exhibited in Amsterdam, New York, London, and Italy, including The Other Art Fair London and Brooklyn. Marianne's paintings have been featured in various publications, including Vogue Living NL, and her work was selected for special projects with Sheraton and Eden Roc Hotel. STUDIO Marianne Hendriks’s work is about reviving old techniques and having her own approach. She is an outsider artist with the intend to be a self defined artist and entrepreneur. With her art practice she has been able to fund and expand her studio and also self funds her studies. Marianne Hendriks’s approach is all in house production, developing craftsmanship and design. Her Studio has a painting atelier, wood workshop, photography studio, editing suite, print facilities and library. She aims to have the studio environment conscious, avoids chemicals and carefully selects natural and responsible materials.
