In this painting the artist combines and merges the geometric simplicity and lesson of Cubism with the abstract colored fields of expressionism. First of all, he draws a construction, a blueprint, a drawing that is not anatomically precise, but free, imaginative, and intuitive, similar to street graffiti and street poster. He actually tries to capture the inner experience, and the carefully records the impressions, but he does not do this realistically, but through abstract, non-representative forms. The artist is fascinated by the mask and grimace of circus artists, harlequins. Their face is an inspiration for a strong emotional experience and some new painting and interpretations. The circus is like great poetry, a magical world, a timeless game that takes on the forms of the great art. This portrait of a harlequin is unusually simple, and the individual psychology of the character is important to the artist. Playing between reality, illusion and abstraction, the artist gives the portrait an aura of mystery. The expressionless, enigmatic face of the harlequin skilfully hides everything and bluffs its next move, before revealing anything to the curious observer.

Serbia
Serbian contemporary artist, designer and decorator. He is best known to the general public for his design works created in relation to artistic research from fine art to applied art (design) with the aim of problematizing and pointing out the absence of strict boundaries between them in contemporary artistic expression. These works are characterized by an interest in postmodernist ornamentalism and a mixture of historical styles taken from modern art. Various conflicting stylistic codes from the history of contemporary art allow mutual transformations. It is actually about artistic creativity that erases the boundaries and differences between high and popular art, between fine art and folk art.
